To consider the attached report
The Head of Corporate and Customer Services submitted a report (HCCS/06/18) to agree the Council’s nominated guests to attend a Royal Garden Party in 2018.
Following despatch of report HCCS/06/18 the following guidance was received from the Royal Garden Party Team at the LGA.
Under normal circumstances, if someone has attended a Royal Garden Party before in any capacity then it is not possible for them to attend again. However, the rules are relaxed for newly elected/outgoing Mayor’s who are able to attend for a second time.
The LGA have indicated that a nomination for the incoming Mayor, Councillor Andy Williams, and the incoming Mayoress, Mrs Beverley Williams, to attend a Garden Party in 2018 would be accepted.
It was noted that a further nomination had been received from Councillor Nigel Williams.
(i) That the incoming Mayor, Councillor Andy Williams, and the incoming Mayoress, Mrs Beverley Williams, along with Councillor Nigel Williams and wife, Mrs Caroline Williams, represent the Council at one of the 2018 Royal Garden Parties.
(ii) That this matter be dealt with as an urgent item of business in accordance with Standing Order 43(1) of the Council’s Standing Orders.
Reason for decision
To ensure that the Council is represented at one of the 2018 Royal Garden Parties and nominations are submitted before the required deadline.
